Here is a free printable pickleball rules sheet for beginners or tournaments for you. Now you can use this to post as a reminder as to what is allowed in the game and how to earn points in order to win the game. We have been sharing a lot of free pickleball printables on our blog lately because it is so popular and want to make things easier to play with friends!!

We first shared this pickleball round robin printable and it was a huge hit. Being able to print it right at home to bring with you when you have a group of people who want to play 12 minute games and then rotate makes it so much easier than making one yourself every single time. I am a former Teacher so I always appreciated things that made my busy life easier and cost me nothing!!

Free Pickleball Rule Sheet

A rules sheet for Pickleball with sections for Serving, Scoring, Double Bounce, Kitchen, and Ball Out of Bounds. Each section provides brief guidelines for playing the game. Pickleball Rules is written at the top with a polka dot pattern.

I actually made two for you, because I was on a roll. 😉 Above is one that is a bit more in depth if you are hosting something where people may have never played before. There is only a bit of color but you could just make it black and white if you preferred. Just click the link here to get this pickleball rule printable sheet. You could laminate it so it lasts longer and use it over and over again too.

5 Pickleball Rules

Double Bounce Rule – First rule of pickleball is after the serve, each team must let the ball bounce once before hitting it. This means the receiving team must let the serve bounce, and the serving team must let the return bounce before volleying.

Non-Volley Zone (Kitchen) Rule – Players cannot volley (hit the ball before it bounces) while standing in the 7-foot “kitchen” area. They also cannot step into the kitchen after hitting a volley.

Serving Rules – The serve must be hit underhand, below the waist, and served diagonally into the opponent’s service court. Only one serve attempt is allowed (unless there’s a “let” where the ball clips the net and lands in the correct service area).

Scoring System – Only the serving team can score points. Games are typically played to 11 points, and a team must win by 2 points.

Faults & Out-of-Bounds – A fault occurs if the ball is hit out of bounds on the side of the court beyond the lines, does not clear the net, is volleyed before the double bounce rule is followed, or if a player volleys while standing in the kitchen.

If you would prefer something more cut and dry, I get it. There really are 5 things to remember and is great to post as a reminder of sorts, really for intermediate and even advanced juuuuuuust in case there is a squabble. The rules above are on a pickleball printable sheet you can find here.

Just like our pickleball bracket sheet I highly suggest that you slide into a sheet protector or use self adhesive laminating sheets. Then you can write on them with wet erase markers too if you want.
